Canon introduces compact broadcast 4K zoom lens CJ15ex4.3B: Best-in-class magnification and shortest focal length

Canon announces the expansion of its industry-leading range of broadcast 4K lenses for cameras with 2/3-inch sensors with a new model – the CJ15ex4.3B. Along with the outstanding optical performance of Canon’s UHDxs series, the best-in-class CJ15ex4 lens.3B has 15x zoom and a focal length at a wide angle of 4.3mm. This lightweight 2.19 kg model broadcasts at 4K optical resolution, even with the built-in 2x teleconverter, delivering the highest resolution from the center of the image to the very edges. Now there’s a lens in Canon’s range for every broadcast shooting scenario. Viewer demand for 4K content is growing, and the CJ15ex4.The 3B is ideal for broadcasters who are future-proof and interested in updating their equipment and workflows.

Unrivalled performance for immersive broadcasting

Canon marked 60 years of broadcast lenses last year. Launch of CJ15ex4.3B is further evidence of our industry-leading commitment to developing innovative products with superb optical performance. This lens faithfully reproduces all tones and supports chromatic aberration correction in BT color space.2020 when used with a compatible 4K camera. The CJ15ex4.3B will allow broadcasters to take a step forward from the traditional ITU-R BT broadcast standard.709 and the ability to exploit a wider range of colors. This will help deliver a brighter, deeper and more realistic picture with gorgeous tones and realistic textures: thus meeting consumer demand for broadcast content with a more powerful presence effect.

Optimized placement of fluorite, ultra-low dispersion UD and super ultra-low dispersion super UD lenses in the CJ15ex4 lens.3B also provides optical chromatic aberration correction. These Canon technologies produce stunning images with virtually no blurring of colors or color fringing at outlines. It is also the first compact broadcast lens to feature the new Air Sphere Coating ASC , which suppresses light reflection, reducing stray flare and delivering realistic HDR photography.

Superb zoom capability

Steady and accurate zoom performance of the CJ15ex4 lens.3B is provided by several groups of movable zoom lenses and aspherical lenses. Even with the built-in 2x tele conversion lens, you’ll still experience superb 4K image quality. In addition, this improved internal focus system controls focus fluctuations and improves resolution in the peripheral areas of the frame for more stable, cleaner, and sharper images.

The perfect lens for dynamic shooting

The new lens’ short focal length and large zoom are great for capturing scenes such as general stadium views and landscapes. These features, combined with its compact and lightweight design, make it a great model for shooting in tight spaces or at close distances from subjects when you need to shoot from the shoulder. In addition, the CJ15ex4.As durable as a conventional HD lens, the 3B gives operators the mobility they need to shoot reports and documentaries. The lens fits comfortably in the hand thanks to an ergonomic design designed for extended use from the shoulder, reducing strain and enhancing shooting capabilities.

Also scheduled for another addition to the Cinema EOS family: Canon launches the EOS C500 Mark II, a compact and versatile next-generation full-frame camera with 5.9K resolution, and the DP-V3120, a professional 4K HDR reference display with 2000 cd/m² brightness. These products together with the CJ15ex4.The 3B will be on display for the first time at Canon at IBC 2019 Hall 12, Stand D60 .
