Canon adds a new 18-inch 4K HDR model to its range of reference displays

Canon Europe announces the DP V1830, a portable reference display for flawless 4K image quality. It is designed specifically for production of 4K HDR TV and film content which is growing in popularity. Unique display accurately reproduces vivid and lifelike colors, and award-winning HDR monitoring tools provide crews with data for detailed image analysis. The lightweight and compact DP V1830 is ideal for live TV broadcasts, even from mobile TV stations, as well as for HDR monitoring on set.

Realistic image reproduction

New 18-inch HDR 4K UHD LCD display with 1000 cd/sv brightness. HDR image quality ensures high quality content display. Incorporating Canonā€™s advanced technologies, the DP-V1830 delivers consistent brightness and wide color gamut, to meet the exacting requirements of HDR broadcasters and film post-processors. Flawless HDR and Dolby Vision and EBU Tech 3320 Category 1A į¶¦-compliant color reproduction is achieved with ultra-low black levels 0.001 cd/sq.m. . m .

Enhanced HDR monitoring tools

The DP-V1830 Reference Display not only produces a superb image, but also gives technicians the ability to analyse it in detail using Canonā€™s latest award-winning HDR monitoring tools: the HDR Reference Oscilloscope and Colour Swap function. Standard HDR monitoring tools are complemented by innovative features such as pixel brightness and color checking, color/brightness outlier monitoring, and direct HDR/SDR comparison. This gives detailed information about the image signal.

Enhanced connectivity and portability

The DP-V1830 offers multiple interfaces for easy connectivity to a range of equipment. These include four 12G-SDI input and output connectors each and one HDMI input connector. They enable the display to deliver a 4K 10-bit 60p frame rate and 4:2:2 sampling or a 12-bit 30p frame rate and 4:4:4 sampling. In addition, there is support for 8K signal to create content that is becoming more and more popular. The DP-V1830 supports simultaneous viewing of two or four videos at up to 4K resolution, which is ideal when shooting with multiple cameras. The display has a rugged yet compact body with a slim frame and weighs only 7.5 kg, so itā€™s great for operational video production in mobile mode.

Future-proofed

Canonā€™s all-new DP V1830 processor contains a resource for future firmware updates that will continue to expand the displayā€™s capabilities. Canon plans to release a firmware update in summer 2022, adding an RGB sequence oscilloscope, the ability to switch input via the multi-function SDIį¶¦į¶¦ connector, and other featuresį¶¦į¶¦į¶¦. So, there will be improved image quality control through changes in dual or quad video display mode, so users can apply different LUT tables to each input. We will also add a color chart to monitor color distribution in the image.

Price and affordability

The DP-V1830 display will go on sale in the first quarter of 2022.
