Buckthorn jam

Products needed

Sea buckthorn jam

Freshly harvested sea buckthorn berries – 1 kg.

sugar – 1,5 kg.

water – 0.8 l.

Vegetable oil 1 tbsp. spoonful

Equipment needed

A hob like the Delonghi SMA3X PVC63 TC, a 2-liter pot like the GreenPan Cookware.

Before using this pan for the first time, wash it with lukewarm water 40…50°C with water, then wipe dry with a kitchen towel or cloth. By the way, the same pan with a special non-stick coating – with care – can be washed in any dishwasher.

However, keep in mind that dirt food scraps from other dishes can have an abrasive effect, and systematic washing in the dishwasher compartment over time years has a detrimental effect on any dishes.

The Delonghi SMA3X PVC63 TC has 4 heating surfaces place the GreenPan Cookware only in the center of one of them.

How to cook

Here is how we made it. Freshly picked sea buckthorn berries, harvested in the summer of 2012, were picked and washed under running cold water. Pour into a 2-liter GreenPan Cookware pan and soak them in hot +50 ˚C water for 3 hours.

Then the water was drained, mashed berries on a coarse grater, you can flatten with a spoon – if there is no grater . Then we poured the mashed berries into the same pan, enriched with sugar, and simmered in this manner, stirring until softened – for an hour and a half on the heating mode “7” cooking pad Delonghi SMA3X PVC63 TC.

Then remove from heat, place product to stand in cold place for another 3-4 hours, and can be served.

The finished product can be removed from the fire – not only guided by the specified cooking time, but also by the situation of softness, by taste. This recipe is rarely used for sea buckthorn, but gives a wonderful taste jam.

Although the general recommendations can be applied universally to almost all types of berries.
