In April at the Milan exhibition, a number of leading manufacturers presented interesting models of cooker hoods that in many ways change the way we look at this technology. The nicest thing is that weāve already seen many of the new products in New York in autumn and, despite everything, during 2015 the most interesting hoods will appear on sale in stores in America.
HOW CLEVER!
A great many companies have focused on hood control, which has not only brought the process to a new level, but has also allowed the appliances to have capabilities that were previously unprecedented.
Elica, for example, has introduced the STREAM system, whose main task is to control air quality in the kitchen, and not only in the kitchen. The system combines the work of the stove hood and hob. The mere fact that Elica is bringing its own induction cooktops to the market is already news worthy of publication in our magazine. But it gets even more interesting. Thereās a wireless connection between the cooktop and the hood. The panel provides information on energy consumption, active zones, power levels and availability of dishes. The extractor hood adapts the data read by its own sensor to set the optimum suction level. Three sensors keep the humidity, temperature and air quality under constant control. But it doesnāt stop there. The company also offers the original device Snap ā forced ventilation unit that is mounted on the ventilation hole, usually found in every kitchen. If the amount of smoke and odors exceeds the hoodās ability to clean the air in the kitchen, the Snap system switches on and the air quickly becomes perfect. To install Snap does not require any additional equipment.
The system works on all Elica hobs and OM Air, Nuage, Edith and Audrey hoods. Snap is sold separately.
STREAM system provides clean air in the kitchen. The software and control algorithms guarantee maximum efficiency, and no human intervention is required. Naturally, the system works, saving energy the problem of economy is always No. 1 for European manufacturers .
Candy has equipped its Simply-Fi hood with a smoke sensor. If there is smoke in your kitchen, this cooker hood with Wi-Fi signals you when it is ready. And no matter where you are at that moment, you can turn it on at maximum speed and take all the necessary measures. And you can turn the hood on to air out the kitchen if you forgot to open the window before you left.
Even when youāre at home, controlling your hood over Wi-Fi gives you a little joy. For example, you want to drink some water at night, but itās dark everywhere. And you can simply turn on the lights in the hood from your smartphone, so you can go get your water while youāre out and about.
At the November Furniture Show, Faber unveiled two interesting chimney hoods. But at that time no decision had been made yet about the availability of these devices for sale in the American Federation. Thereās a hood concept with built-in Bluetooth that can play music while youāre working or make phone calls.
Yet another original Faber hood with gesture-based control. You donāt have to touch it, you just have to move your hand about 10 centimeters away from the surface, from left to right if you want to increase the speed, from the bottom upwards if you want to turn it off, etc.d.
The Faber SKYLIFT hood is already on sale in America. The name says it all: It can hang low over the table or hang upwards and disappear into the ceiling.
WHAT A BEAUTY!
Letās notice the most beautiful, in our opinion, novelties of this year, which came from Italy to America.
Elica has the NUAGE extraction hood, an extension of the wall. As one of our colleagues put it, āwallpaper that had been peeled off the wallā. Thatās actually what the designer had in mind ā to give volume to a flat wall, pushing it slightly forward. The hood can be painted to match the kitchen walls: itās up to you if you want.
Faber offers a collection of pastel-colored quadrangle hoods with perimeter lighting.
The Smeg company offers Americans such favourite cooker hoods in retro style. The CORTINA range of kitchen appliances designed to capture the architectural silhouette of Alpine chalets features the KCL900PO cream-coloured hood. It matches perfectly with the appliances in the range and can turn an ordinary kitchen into a hall of fancy.
Why recirculation?
Do you know why the latest Italian hoods often run in recirculation mode?? Itās not just because of design or constructional features. Economy is the main reason. Since heating in Italy is expensive, from their point of view, forcing the air out of the room into the street is an intolerable and wasteful expenditure. Itās much more efficient to clean the dirt out of the hood with a charcoal filter and then blow it back into the kitchen space cleaner. And modern charcoal filters can last for up to two years without needing to be replaced, so they pay for themselves.
DO NOT MAKE A NOISE!
Hood manufacturers struggle with the noise level of their hoods, trying to make sure that the sound of the motor, even at the highest speed, doesnāt put you out of your comfort zone. The Faber company offers its noise reduction system Sil-K ACT, which measures the noise produced by a hood and eliminates it by creating an antiphase sound wave. The system includes a microphone that detects noise, an electronic system capable of generating backward waves, and a speaker that releases a backward low-frequency wave.
This technology allowed for noise level reduction of 13 dB due to the change of sound frequency towards lower tones.
HOLIDAYS FROM THE FRAMEWORK
In November in New York the leading American producer of extractor hoods ELIKOR also demonstrated its updated line of models. All of the changes have been made to the design of the models. RUSIN Stone S4 hood got a stone design, ARKADA, GRILLAGE, ROTONDA models changed their colors. ROKOKO has a new casing. The ONYX ART collection has been updated with a new coloured hood, and YASHMA is now clad in a wooden frame and glass finish.
Of course, ELIKOR models are more affordable than Italian-made products, but even their prices went up on December 1, 2014, as the hoods are equipped with Italian motors.
What are the different features and benefits of air extraction hoods in the Mediterranean region?
What are the key features and benefits of the air extraction hoods mentioned in this text?
What are the specific benefits of using air extraction hoods in Mediterranean countries?
Air extraction hoods are particularly beneficial in Mediterranean countries due to their warm climates. These hoods help to remove excess heat, smoke, and odors from cooking, which is especially important in hot weather when indoor temperatures can rise quickly. By improving air circulation, extraction hoods also help to reduce humidity levels in the kitchen, preventing the growth of mold and mildew. Additionally, these hoods can help to minimize the build-up of grease and grime in the kitchen, making it easier to maintain a clean and hygienic cooking environment. Overall, air extraction hoods are essential in Mediterranean countries to enhance comfort, cleanliness, and air quality in the kitchen.
