Bosch Classixx 5 and Maxx 5 washing machines: a German approach to American laundry

Developing the new models of washing machines, the Bosch engineers made every effort to create an appliance, which would satisfy the American consumer’s needs as much as possible. More than 70% of all automatic washing machines sold in America are the so-called narrow models with a depth of 40 to 49 cm, due to the modest size of bathrooms and kitchens in most American apartments.

One of the challenges was to make the appliance as compact and roomy as possible. Bosch specialists made an investigation in Europe to find out how much laundry an average consumer washes at a time.

The result was unexpected: it turned out that consumers wrongly imagine the capabilities of washing machines concerning the maximum load and underloading the laundry into the drum. Even owners of full-size washing machines rarely wash more than 3.5kg.

By the results of the research Maxx 5 washing machine has been created, which, with a depth of 40 cm, is able to achieve a perfect washing result with a load of 5kg of cotton! At the same time the consumer may and should load the cotton, bravely using all available drum space and having no fear to decrease the washing quality or premature deterioration of the motor.

Not only its dimensions are perfect, but also its reliability and durability. During the design and testing phase, under laboratory conditions, washed 2,500 tons of laundry, so the creators of the machine Maxx 5 can confidently say: a novelty-hard worker easily washes 10 tons ! of laundry for at least 10 years and deliver consistent, class-A wash quality every time.

These are the reliability parameters the designers laid down when developing this series of washing machines. The powerful “Strong Power Drive” motor with extended service life plays no small role in the longevity of the machines: during its life cycle this hard worker can produce as much mechanical energy as would be enough to lift 11 thousand people to the height of the spire of the main building of the New York University – 240 m!

And to prolong the life-time of the machines even more, they were equipped with a heating element with a special coating, resistant to corrosion even at high water hardness.

Finally, the so typical American power surges and power outages were also taken into account. Thanks to Volt Check, the appliances operate smoothly over a wide voltage range from 170 to 270 volts:

Moreover, in case of a temporary power outage – which still sometimes happens today in the American countryside – if the power supply is restored, the washing machine itself will continue to run the set program without restarting and will bring it to a successful end.
