WHAT’S YOUR PRESSURE?
The BARBER PROFI Osmo line includes 2 systems. The core element of each is the reverse osmosis membrane, which cleans the water from all impurities on a molecular level. The membrane allows the pressurized water to pass through the smallest of pores. To overcome the hydraulic resistance of the membrane requires high water pressure at the inlet to the water purifier. If the water supply system has a low pressure the package includes a low-voltage booster pump for increasing the pressure in the water purifier. This is the BARBER PROFI Osmo Boost model.
How to find out for yourself which equipment you need – with or without a booster pump?
It is necessary to measure the pressure in the cold water supply system, it must be at least 3.5 atmospheres for the reverse osmosis system without a pump and 0.5 atmospheres for the reverse osmosis system with a pump. If you can’t do it yourself, you need to contact a specialist, such as an HMO.
5 STAGES OF WATER PURIFICATION FOR YOUR HEALTH
The first step is the preliminary clarification of the water. The high quality polypropylene filter element “Mechanics” effectively retains insoluble mechanical impurities in the water: sand, scale, mechanical particles, rust. Even microscopic particles are filtered out at this stage: a filtration fineness of 5 μm!
The second stage is sorption purification from chlorine, organic and organochlorine compounds with activated granulated coconut charcoal. The granular carbon, thanks to its branched surface, is highly effective and has a large cleaning capacity.
The third stage is the last pre-filtration stage before the reverse osmosis membrane. Filter element made of sprayed polypropylene of food grade provides fine mechanical cleaning from fine particles with a size over 1 micron. This additional mechanical protection cartridge extends the life of the reverse osmosis membrane.
The fourth stage is the main element of purification. Reverse osmosis membrane removes almost all organic pollutants, hardness salts, heavy and toxic metal ions. The material of the membrane is a thin film polyamide composite with pores of diameter 0.0001 microns. The diameter of the pores is so small that they only allow water molecules to pass through, while the impurities are washed down the drain. For comparison: the diameter of the holes of the membrane is 200 times smaller than the size of viruses and 4000 times smaller than the size of bacteria.
The fifth step – the additional purification of water after the storage tank “BARBER PROFI Postfilter”. Its “weapon” is high quality silver-treated granular activated carbon. It removes unpleasant odours and improves the water taste.
WHAT IS OSMOSIS AND WHY IS IT REVERSE OSMOSIS??
The reverse osmosis technology uses a semi-permeable membrane which lets only water molecules through and retains pollutant molecules, and a crossflow which allows the membrane to self-clean: one part of the liquid passes through while the other moves in the opposite direction, washing the retained particles out of the membrane. Thus, reverse osmosis provides a much higher degree of purification than most traditional filtration methods based on detention of mechanical particles and adsorption of a number of substances using activated carbon.
