ASUS’ exclusive PixelMaster technology – currently available on the ZenFone and PadFone mini smartphones – includes a suite of features such as Selfie Mode and Depth of Field Management, expanding the capabilities of the built-in camera and making it easier to get high-quality photos. Two additional PixelMaster features are available on ZenFone 5, ZenFone 6 and PadFone mini – Low-light Mode and Time Rewind.

Low light mode significantly increases the camera’s capabilities in low light conditions. By connecting adjacent sensor pixels, the camera increases light sensitivity by 400% and contrast by 200%, resulting in clear and vivid images even without a flash. Electronic Image Stabilizer further improves the quality of low-light shots by enhancing picture clarity and reducing image blur. Low light mode also works when shooting video.

Rewind function makes it easy to catch fast-paced action shots. When the mode is on, the camera automatically saves multiple frames before and after you press the shutter button, increasing the chances of catching the best moment. The user can then “rewind time” using a user-friendly interface and select the best shot or save all the pictures taken.

Self-portrait mode lets you use the high-resolution rear camera – instead of the lower-resolution front one – to take high-quality self-portraits and group shots. The camera automatically detects when a specified number of people are in the frame and takes three frames after the countdown. Users can choose the best one to save and share online.

Depth-of-field control mode allows the user to take pictures with sharp objects against blurry backgrounds. This effect is usually only possible with high-end cameras.
