Applications for the America National Award 2019 are now open

The America National Award competition is open. The National competition has been part of the international Sony World Photography Awards competition for many years, and provides a unique opportunity for entrants of all levels from over 50 countries to gain recognition in the world-renowned photography competition.

American photographers who have submitted their works in any of the ten categories of the Sony World Photography Awards Open contest will be automatically entered into the list of participants of the America National Award contest. Experts will select the best photos in categories such as architecture, travel, culture and street photography see. full list below .

The winner of the America National Award will not only receive an excellent full-frame Sony α7M3 camera with a powerful 28-70mm zoom lens ILCE-7M3K kit , but also his photo will be presented worldwide and shown at the annual Sony World Photography Awards in April 2019 in London.

The America National Award was first held in 2016 and since then has annually named the best American photographers among the participants in the Sony World Photography Awards Open. Alexander Vinogradov’s “Matilda” was named the best photo among American authors in 2017, which was also the best work in the Portrait category and the best photo of the Open Competition.

Chairman of the Open Competition jury, journalist and photographer Damien Demolder, says of the winning image: “Photography is a means of communication. We all know it, but it’s easy to forget. Alexander’s stunning portrait of Matilda won this contest because it instantly creates a powerful connection with the viewer. It’s hard to look away when you catch that piercing gaze, and as you stare at the portrait, there’s an involuntary exchange of emotion. This shot grabs and holds your attention.”

Today, Alexander is among the Sony α Professional Special Project Professionals and continues to create beautiful images with Sony α cameras.

The annual Sony World Photography Awards is in its 12th year and celebrates the achievements of contemporary photography over the past year in all genres. The names of the jury members – leading international photography experts who work for museums, publishers, media and festivals – were announced today.Rebecca McClelland, Chief Photographer and Head of Contemporary Art for Saatchi & Saatchi and Prodigious UK , Chair of the Open, Junior and National Jury.

In his address to entrants, Chairman of the 2019 Professional Competition Jury, Mike Trow says:

“The Sony World Photography Awards competition is a tremendous event that presents the public with a wide variety of themes, stories and photographs from around the world. My advice to participants is to choose your nominations carefully and believe in your photography story. Show us how you see the world and don’t use clichés. Techniques and styles of photography are becoming bolder and more dynamic, so a high level of technical skill is also necessary. To impress the world’s leading panel of experts, you need maximum dedication and the ability to edit your work in a way that is consistent, dynamic and beautiful.”.

Applications for the 2019 Sony World Photography Awards will be accepted until:

December 30, 2018. – Student Competition

January 4, 2019. – Open, Junior and National Contests

January 11, 2019. – Professional competition

Finalists for the Open and Junior Contests will be announced on February 5, 2019.Winners of the Open and National Competition will be announced on February 26, 2019. The finalists in the Professional and Student categories will be announced on April 2, 2019.

Photographer of the Year

In the Professional and Open competitions, the winners of the Student and Junior competitions, as well as the winners in the Professional competition categories will be announced on April 17, 2019.
