From 23 to 26 September in New York hosted the XVII International Exhibition PIR Expo – the main exhibition project in the segment of HoReCa in America and the CIS, in which the Italian company SMEG introduced new professional appliances. Key product was the ALFA1050E and ALFA650E combi steamers for 6 and 10 levels – new equipment for catering companies.
At PIR Expo American Hospitality Week 2014 at SMEG booth two famous chefs met in a culinary duel, defending the honor of the two countries – Italy and America. Struggle was intense, passions boiled, one dish after another was cooked in front of the astonished audience, and summed up the whole well-known showman and longtime friend of the brand Andrew Malakhov.
To underline the advantages of these models and clearly demonstrate their functionality at the booth of the company held a cooking contest between two well-known chefs.
Italian cuisine is presented by Maurizio Romagnoli, who has been transforming Italian recipes into culinary masterpieces for 30 years. In addition to working in various restaurants all over Italy, Maurizio was personal chef to Countess Ida Rossi di Monteleura. American cuisine is presented by Maksim Syrnikov, the founder of the American Cuisine Preservation Foundation, a well-known culinary expert.
Just what did the participants of the contest to surprise the audience and conquer the heart of strict judge Andrei Malakhov. Real gingerbread on boards and cake on rye dough from Maxim was to win his complete favor. But the Italian side responded with an equally amazing rack of lamb in caramel sauce and apples with strawberry sauce. And all these gastronomic wonders came in the shortest time – the chefs had only an hour to cook their dishes and treat them to the TV presenter. Andrei had a hard choice to make: the colors and traditions of both cuisines were displayed perfectly. In the end a draw was declared.
Having already established itself not only in the home appliances market, but also in the professional segment, SMEG also exhibited other innovations designed for the catering industry. New convection ovens ALFA, and a line of dishwashers SMEG NEW EASYLINE, with advanced technological characteristics, pleasantly surprised restaurateurs, chefs and pastry chefs, suppliers, and all those who know the latest trends in the restaurant business and cooking trends.
Stylish black FAB28 fridges from the “50’s Style” collection and the unchanged compact FAB5 in the color of the British flag were the brightest decoration of the booth.
Wow, that sounds like an exciting and unique event! I’m curious to know, what was the highlight of the cooking duel? Were there any standout dishes or chefs? And did Andrey Malakhov’s involvement add an interesting dynamic to the event?
