Planet9 ā€“ Acerā€™s next-generation eSports platform

Planet9 is a next-generation eSports platform and social network that aims to create an open community for experienced and novice players who wish to improve their skills and approach professional status. The platform helps players connect with other users within cybersports teams and social clubs improve their skills through training1 and detailed analysis of their results in the form of statistics try themselves in cybersport by participating in ranking and training matches and championships. By late 2020 or early 2021 Planet9 will feature in-game overlay support for League of Legends, with more planned for other competitive games in the future.

SigridWave is an in-game AI translator that understands gamer slang

SigridWave is an AI-powered in-game translator that uses deep learning technologies to break down language barriers between users around the world and facilitate their communication. The translator is built into the Planet9 PC platform and downloads directly into the game lobby, then functions as a customizable in-game overlay. SigridWave uses automatic speech recognition ASR technology in the game to detect user lines and convert them into lines of text. This text is then processed using Neural Machine Translation NMT technology, which has so far been trained on more than 10 million bilingual pairs of expressions, allowing the AI to understand terminology related to specific games such as ā€œADSā€ or ā€œcampingā€ .

Context is a serious obstacle for machine translation: many words carry more than one possible meaning, and AI has a hard time determining which translation is best for a given situation if it canā€™t process its context. SigridWaveā€™s AI was developed specifically for gaming, and used about 1,000 hours of in-game communication voice + transcripts to train it, allowing the software to understand the meaning of messages more accurately and translate them adequately for users.

In the fourth quarter of 2020, SigridWave will be launched as a closed beta. At the same time, users of popular first-person shooters will have English and North Chinese two-way translation available in a number of major FPS games, such as Tom Clancyā€™s Rainbow Six: Siege.

Teams ā€“ team up with other users

Planet9 is originally a social platform that helps players communicate with other users with similar interests and skill levels. Players will be able to create their own team and register it to the platform or join an existing team. Planet9 also helps find potential team members by various criteria including game title, user rating, region, and language. Once a team has been created on the platform, it will have a private page that will become a home ā€œteam hubā€ for all members. In addition to keeping track of game results and statistics for later viewing and discussion, this hub supports a number of features that help organize team activities: a forum for discussion and polls, a group calendar for scheduling ranked games, a tab for tracking funding, and a section with basic stats on all members.

Clubs ā€“ Get closer to your favorite teams

Many users play games not only for fun, but also for their communities. The Planet9 Club feature helps these players get closer to the cybersports groups they like. And this applies to serious world-renowned teams as well as local organizations, such as university cybersports teams. The clubs consist of two parts: a public homepage for subscribers and a private one for members. The homepage is a place to post content posts, polls, videos, etc. .d. to interact with the community, and the private part of the club will be a place where the inner circle of team members can relax and discuss issues related to its activities.

Companies, Influencers and celebrities can also open their own club on Planet9, creating a unique new point of contact between brands and players. Whether professional or amateur, each club will be given access to various tournament tools to develop new gaming communities.

Planet9 recently partnered with Dixons to bring the platform to Currys PC World stores and grow cyber sports in the UK and Ireland. As part of the agreement cybersports arenas will be created that allow players to feel what it is like to be in the thick of the gaming events, train with teammates and learn from professional trainers. These indoor arenas will appear in 30 chain stores over the course of 2021. Each store will open its own Planet9-based club to develop a local community of players, as well as tournaments, so that users will have their own platform to showcase their gaming talents.

Nick Hayden, head of gaming at Currys PC World, said: ā€œWeā€™re very excited to work with Acer to launch our in-store arenas with Planet9. Teams in 30 stores are really looking forward to meeting customers in 2021 to play for their storesā€™ club and to play in tournaments. This is just the beginning of our next big step into mainstream eSports, and we hope to roll out more exciting initiatives in the future, such as Planet9.ā€

Championships ā€“ achieve fame and increase your audience

The Planet9 platform includes infrastructure designed to make organizing and hosting of eSports events as simple as possible. User-friendly interface will help prepare a successful tournament, even for those with no experience in this field. Tournaments are easily customizable, with a number of preset groups and privacy modes, as well as opportunities for sponsorship branding and a selection of club awards. On the day of the championship itself, the Bracket Master makes it easy to interact with the judges and organizers, set up matches, broadcast the matches to the audience, and more.
