A review of Candy Simply-Fi appliances with built-in Wi-Fi: Smart Home and Candy in it

In spring in Milan and then in autumn in New York the Italian company Candy presented its Simply-Fi range of large home appliances with integrated Wi-Fi . The range includes an oven, fridge, cooker hood, dishwasher, washing machine and induction hob. To control and monitor your appliances from anywhere in the world, download the Candy Simply-Fi app on your smartphone or tablet. It works on all major operating systems, iOS and Android, and is also available on the PC as a web application.

Dishwashers

From this year the “white” appliances can be “managed” using a smartphone or tablet.

HOW IT WORKS

1. WE WASH?

Of course, using Wi-Fi you can’t put the laundry into the washing machine or take it out, but you can start the washing and turn on the delayed start when you are out of the house.

If the washing has already finished and the laundry is still in the drum, then the machine will inform you and offer to switch on the program Keep it fresh.

In addition, the machine will help in choosing the best program for washing: you will inform the appendix about the type of laundry, degree of dirt, your preferences whether the spinning is needed, additional washing, etc. . rinse and t.d. , and the system itself will select the best algorithm of work. There is a place in the system’s memory and for the latest settings. If you’re happy with everything, then just press Quick Start – and the machine will turn on the parameters of the last wash.

2. FREEZE?

Proper use of Super-freezing or Super-cooling programs in your fridge is no longer a problem. As you know, these two modes require pre-activation. You can turn on the Supercooler on the way to the supermarket, and you can easily activate the Superfreeze 24 hours in advance, for instance, when you’re at the cottage.

If you forget a glass bottle in the freezer, as is often the case at feasts, the system will remind you of it and tell you when the temperature is “right.

3. REMOVE?

The a la Carte menu gives you the ideal wash program for the dishes you load in the dishwasher. You specify its degree and type, and the machine itself will choose the temperature and cycle time. It can also indicate the illegality of your actions: if you try to “put”, for example, pots and crystal glasses into one basket on the tablet like a computer game , then you won’t succeed – the “virtual” system will not allow to combine the incompatible items.

4. CLEAN AIR?

If there’s smoke in the kitchen, for example, if something is burning and you’re in another room, the hood will let you know, so you can turn it on right away, before rushing back into the kitchen. You can also turn the hood on and off wherever you are in town if you want to air out your kitchen.

5. READY?

The app allows you to preheat the oven when you first bring home a frozen pizza, for example. When you arrive, you can put it in the hot oven right away, so you don’t have to wait extra minutes.

For less confident cooks, the app will help you choose the best cooking program. You can not only save great recipes in the app, but also share them with the world over using social networks. You will also be able to use recipes from the networks, which will be posted by other users of the application.

You won’t be able to control your hob with Wi-Fi: general safety concerns don’t allow these appliances to be turned on from a distance. But all the current settings: temperature, power – you can track.

GENERAL QUESTIONS

One of the most important features of controlling appliances from a distance are questions about proper operation. The app will inform you of power failures, operating problems, etc.d. The hood will let you know when you’ve left the fridge door open, or it will remind you to run out of salt in the dishwasher or to clean the oven, for instance. In addition, you will always know exactly how much power is spent by each appliance and will be able to regulate your expenses the app will tell you when it is “cheaper” to do the laundry, how to optimize the appliances, etc.d.

Practically, the equipment enters into a dialogue with us. We are now at the beginning of this “communication” and can only imagine how it will be and how much easier our life will become. The best part is that it is already a reality: Candy Simply-Fi appliances will be available in America in early 2015, and they will be affordable for a wide range of customers. I’m sure life will create a lot of situations in which Wi-Fi control will be indispensable. And we’ll wonder how we ever did without it?
