A mini review of Canon XEED WUX5000 LCoS Multimedia Projector

The XEED WUX5000 is one of the few installation projectors on the market that uses LCoS technology. What makes it different from the more common 3LCD technology is that it uses reflective crystals on a silicon substrate rather than translucent LCDs to create images. One of the advantages of LCoS panels is that the gaps between individual pixels are smaller than LCD panels, so there is no “grid” effect.

In the XEED WUX5000, WUXGA resolution 1920×1200 dots matrix is installed, which forms a picture with an aspect ratio of 16:10. The projector can show uncompressed Full HD content, as well as display complex graphics with high fidelity. Its light output is 5,000 ANSI-Lm.

Like any professional installation device, the XEED WUX5000 is equipped with a flexible optical system. With the lens shift function, the projector can be placed off axis, not directly in front of the screen. Three optional lenses – standard, long-focus with a powerful zoom and fixed short-focus lens allow you to mount the projector in any environment – even near or far from the screen. Control the optics directly from the remote control.

The XEED WUX5000 is designed so that old lamps and filters can easily be replaced without removing the unit from the brackets. You can control the projector via the LAN, and both one, and multiple machines – because the model supports the standard PJ-Link.

The Canon XEED WUX5000 LCoS Multimedia Projector seems interesting, but I’m wondering how it performs in terms of image quality and brightness? Can it handle high resolution content without any loss in details? Additionally, I’d like to know if it has any notable features or advantages over similar projectors in the market. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
