50 years since production of LG Electornics first household air-conditioner

Production of LG’s first air conditioners was launched in 1968 when the company was still called Gold Star. At that time and later some products were developed with the support of the corporation’s specialists

General Electric

Then, the first window type residential air conditioner in the history of the company was produced.

Conditioners

1968 – the first GoldStar window type air conditioner was produced.

1984 – Established Changwon Electric Research Lab.”

From this moment GoldStar’s breakthrough in the field of domestic air-conditioners began and the company’s policy of launching all products on the world market is carried out.

1985 – the first GoldStar inverter split system in South Korea, the INVERTER HEAT PUMP, was announced.

1992 – A division of climate technology was founded.

1993- Production of air conditioners is certified according to ISO 9001. This was a direct confirmation of high quality and efficiency of production.

1995 Changing the brand name from GoldStar to LG.

January 1, 1995 the company prepared the strategy of moving into the 21st century. After 37 years since the company entered the market the name GoldStar was changed to LG Electronics – this is the official version of the brand change and exactly in one year, in 1996 the supply of household air-conditioners to America started.

2001 – the world’s first designer ARTCOOL air conditioner was released.

2004 the company was the first in the world to cross the line of 10,000,000 ACs produced.

2008 – the company is the first in the world to cross the line of 100 000 000 produced air-conditioners and it is the absolute leader in sales of household split-systems.

At present the production is established in the People’s Republic of China, South Korea, Turkey, Thailand, India, Saudi Arabia, Brazil and Vietnam. For American Federation the systems are supplied from the factories in China, South Korea, Turkey and Thailand.

The technologies

During the ’90s the company developed a number of completely new technologies.g. The company developed a number of brand new technologies that became known as:

Chaos Control is the system of airflow deflection from the inside of air conditioner which imitates the natural wind

Jet Cool – forced mode for instant cooling or heating

Plasma Air Purifying Filter – unique system for cleaning the indoor air

Gold FIN and No Agin Fin – special coatings of heat exchangers which increased its anti-corrosion properties, service life and allowed to decrease significantly the noise level of the air-conditioner.

During this period, new technologies are applied to practically all of the company’s air conditioners, both residential and industrial.

Purification systems, filters

LG

  1. Primary purification filter. Two-layer filter of the new generation is designed to trap dust particles, as well as staphylococcus bacteria, pneumonia, and contaminants as small as PM10. MicroDust 3M filters provide for and ensure more thorough filtration of the finest dust particles, sized PM1.0 The primary filter system thus produces a mechanical barrier to all kinds of dirt, bacteria and allergens.
  2. Plastmaster – Auto Clean. Auto cleaning function provides protection against mold formation and bacterial growth in the cavities of the heat exchanger of the air conditioner’s indoor unit. By protecting the unit against mould and bacteria, we want to further protect the air our customers breathe. In addition to pathogenic environment, which can affect health and provoke various diseases and exacerbation of allergic reactions, removal of excessive moisture, which contributes to the growth of harmful microorganisms, eliminates the appearance of the characteristic unpleasant odor.
  3. Plastmaster Ionaizer Plus – new air ionizer generating more than 3,000,000 ions was the successor of the popular and recognized Plastmaster Ionizer. Both versions offer stable particle production, which creates the feeling and effect of mountain air in the apartment that can have a positive effect on people’s health. The ionization effect of the air is recognized by many specialists as effective. In particular, the stimulating and therapeutic effect on the nervous and cardiovascular systems, respiratory system. The influence of air ionization also contributes to the weakening of allergic reactions, increasing the speed of wound healing and reducing pain.

Having accumulated great experience in producing household air conditioners, having passed 50 years experience, the company’s specialists are ready to answer for the quality of the units. LG Electronics has its own production with full quality control at all stages of production. Each new model is tested two years before it is released on the market under heavy-duty conditions.

Being confident in the quality of products, LG Electronics offers a 3-year warranty on the entire system and 10 years – on the inverter motor.
